Lowland park

Bardia

Bardia National Park, in the far west of the plains, is quieter and wilder than Chitwan. Its forests, grasslands and the Karnali river are among the best places in Nepal to look for tigers, as well as rhinos, elephants and river dolphins.

When to walk here

October to April.

bestgoodcoldmonsoon

Cool, dry months are best; February to April, when the grass is cut, gives the best chance to see animals. It is very hot from May, and wet in the monsoon.

Good to know

  • Quiet. Far fewer visitors than Chitwan.
  • Patience. Tigers are seen by those who wait. Nobody can promise one.
