How I can
walk with you.

I'm a freelance guide and a photographer, at home in Nepal's history, culture and old photographs. I work best with people who love nature and don't want to rush. Here is what I do, what I charge for a day, and what I leave out.

01 · Trails and cultural photography

Walking with a camera

I plan the days around good light: the first hour after sunrise, the last hour before sunset, clear mornings above the clouds. I take care of the route, the permits and the lodges, so you can give your attention to what is in front of you. You make the photographs; I don't photograph you or for you.

Good for photographers of every level who want time for the light.

What I do

  • Plan each day around sunrise, sunset and the weather
  • Choose the place and the hour for each view
  • Keep the pace slow enough to stop when the light is right
  • Introduce you in villages and ask before any portrait
  • Help you keep batteries and cameras working in the cold

Paid separately, at cost

  • Permits, lodges and meals
  • Transport and flights
  • A porter, only if you want one
  • A drone permit, only if you fly

I guide; the photographs are yours. My own camera is for my own work.

02 · City guide

The Kathmandu Valley, at your pace

The Kathmandu Valley is a living museum: seven World Heritage monuments, and temples where daily worship goes on around you. I walk with you through the squares and courtyards and tell you the stories behind them, at your pace. One rate for 1 to 5 people.

Good for a first day in Nepal, or a slow look at the old cities

What I do

  • Walk with you through the heritage squares, temples and stupas
  • Explain the carvings, the buildings and the rituals around you
  • Plan the day around your pace and your interests
  • Help at the ticket counters
  • Tell you where photos are welcome and where they are not
  • Show you tea stalls, workshops and family kitchens

Paid separately, at cost

  • Entry fees, paid at each gate
  • A private car or taxi, at the local fare
  • Meals and tea

03 · Trekking guide

Trekking in the mountains, slowly

I am your private guide on the trail, for 1 to 5 people at one rate: a couple, friends or a family. I plan the route around your pace, arrange the permits before we leave Kathmandu, and keep a calm eye on the altitude every day. Lodges, meals, permits and transport are paid at what they cost.

Good for walkers who want a slow, safe trek with one guide they can talk to

What I do

  • Plan the route and the days around your pace
  • Arrange your permits before we leave Kathmandu, through the registered company I work with
  • Check how everyone feels at altitude every morning and evening, with a pulse oximeter
  • Choose the teahouses and plan the meals with you
  • Tell you the stories of the villages and the trail
  • Advise on gear and getting fit before the trek

Paid separately, at cost

  • Permits, at the official price
  • Lodges and meals, paid directly to the lodges
  • Flights and jeeps
  • A porter, only if you want one

04 · Media support

For photographers, filmmakers and outdoor brands

Filming and photographing high in the Himalaya needs more than gear: endurance, local knowledge, the right light and good logistics. I plan the route and the days around golden hours and weather, arrange permits, porters and transport, and keep your crew safe at altitude. You bring and operate your own cameras.

Good for photographers, film crews and outdoor brands working in the mountains

What I do

  • Plan routes and days around the light and the weather
  • Arrange film, media and drone permits, and village approvals
  • Find porters for camera gear, with padded, weather-sealed cases
  • Manage pace, acclimatisation and safety at altitude
  • Arrange lodging, land transport and flights
  • Translate, and open doors in the villages

Paid separately, at cost

  • Permits and drone clearances, at the official price
  • Porters, lodging, transport and flights, at cost

I do not photograph or film for clients: my own cameras are for my own work.

The details

I don't sell packages. I guide, and I help you arrange the rest (rooms, transport, permits) at what it actually costs. If you would like it all put together as one package, ask me: I make one only on your request, and we confirm it by email.

How we begin

Most walks start with a conversation

  1. 1You write to meAbout the walk you have in mind, your dates, and the pace that suits you.
  2. 2I reply myselfUsually within a day, or a few days when I am on the trail with no network, with an honest plan, and I'll tell you if something isn't right for you.
  3. 3We agree it in writingThe plan and every cost, written down, before anything is booked.

I would rather walk with a few people who want to stay a while than with many who want to hurry.

Write to meI reply myself, usually within a day. On the trail there is often no network, so it can take a few days.

Write to me

Tell me a little about the walk you have in mind. I read every message myself and usually reply within a day; from the trail, where there is often no network, it can take a few days.

Or, if you prefer, write to me on WhatsApp.
