RUJAN NEUPANE

It started with a camera. Long before I became a guide, I was simply chasing light across Nepal’s hills, falling in love with this land one frame at a time.

That passion turned into a calling. In 2018, I earned my trekking and tour guide licenses, and since then I’ve explored over 70 districts of Nepal and trekked roughly 85% of its trails—from the iconic Everest and Annapurna routes to hidden trails few outsiders ever see.

I hold a Master’s in Management, which I put to work behind the scenes—planning every trek with care, so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.

Photography never left me. I create travel videos and have worked as a wedding photographer too, and I bring that same eye to every trek I guide—helping you capture moments, not just check off destinations.

Whether it’s your first trek or your tenth, I promise this: a safe, well-planned journey, a guide who knows these mountains like home, and memories you’ll actually want to look back on.

So pack your bags, charge your camera, and let’s hit the trail together! 🏔️

About — My Story

The Trail So Far

Every guide has a route that got them here. Mine runs through seventy-odd districts, a camera that never stayed in the bag, and a few years of figuring out how to turn both into a living.

Photography and travel videography started as a hobby on weekend trips out of Kathmandu — long before either one paid a bill.

🏔️ Reaching the Academic Summit – Master’s Degree from TU

"In 2014, I successfully completed my Master’s Degree from Tribhuvan University (TU). Balancing rigorous academic research with my deep passion for the outdoors wasn't easy, but it taught me invaluable skills in leadership, deep cultural history, and critical thinking. This milestone completely transformed how I guide. Instead of just leading paths, I began weaving rich historical context, local geography, and deep cultural stories into every single trek, giving travelers a profound and deeply meaningful journey through our beautiful landscapes."

📸 Opening the Lens to Weddings: Capturing Love Stories

"In 2015, fresh off my Master's degree, I expanded my creative horizons and officially opened the lens to wedding photography. Leveraging my deep connection to Nepal's landscapes, I brought an adventurous edge to capturing couples against dramatic outdoor backdrops. Documenting a wedding day requires the same high stamina, quick thinking, and patience as guiding a group through the mountains. For me, it became all about storytelling—turning raw human emotions and beautiful scenery into timeless visual memories."

🌐 2016 – Present: The Evolution of Rujans.com & Explore Trekking

"In 2016, I built rujans.com originally as a creative home for my Portraits, Cultur, wedding and landscape photography portfolio. As my passion for the mountains and deep trail expertise grew, the platform evolved alongside me. Today, rujans.com has completely transformed into a fully dedicated trekking and tour booking portal, integrated with ExploreTrekking. It bridges my visual storytelling with my guiding career, serving as a trusted digital gateway for travelers worldwide to book authentic, expertly guided Himalayan adventures."

🥾 Milestone: Becoming a Licensed Trekking Guide

"Stepping out of the classroom and officially into the mountains, I earned my professional trekking guide license from the Government of Nepal after rigorous training in high-altitude safety, navigation, and first aid. This wasn't just a certification for me—it was the moment my lifelong passion for the Himalayas became my official calling. Equipped with formal safety protocols and deep trail knowledge, I began leading travelers responsibly, turning challenging alpine routes into safe, unforgettable Himalayan adventures."

🗺️ The Ultimate Exploration: 70+ Districts & ~85% of the Trails

"Driven by an unstoppable wanderlust and a mission to truly know my country, I successfully explored 70+ districts and trekked roughly 85% of Nepal's established trails. From the popular high-altitude circuits to the most remote, forgotten valleys, this epic journey completely redefined my expertise. Living, walking, and breathing the diverse terrains of Nepal gave me unparalleled, firsthand knowledge of local cultures, hidden viewpoints, and off-the-beaten-path routes—allowing me to offer travelers an authentic experience that very few guides can replicate."

🥾 Present Day: Still on the Trail

"Even after years of exploring, I am still on the trail, with my boots laced up and my camera always ready. The mountains are my true home, and my journey is far from over. Every single season brings new travelers to guide, uncharted remote routes to map, and raw, fleeting Himalayan moments to capture through my lens. For me, being on the trail isn't just a job—it is a lifelong lifestyle of continuous discovery, storytelling, and sharing the untamed beauty of Nepal with the world."
