Manaslu

Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain on earth, stands above the Budhi Gandaki gorge and the Tibetan Buddhist valleys of Nubri and Tsum. It is a restricted area: quieter than Annapurna or Everest, with long mani walls, old monasteries and the Larke La pass.

When to walk here

October and November, and April.

Autumn is the clearest and busiest time; spring is good too. In winter the Larke La is often closed by snow.

Good to know

  • Restricted area. The permits are made in Kathmandu before you leave. Bring your passport and photos.
  • Larke La. The pass day is long. Keep a spare day for the weather.

Other trails here can be walked too. Tell me which one, and we plan it together.

Tell me a little about the walk you have in mind. I read every message myself and usually reply within a day; from the trail, where there is often no network, it can take a few days.

Or, if you prefer, write to me on WhatsApp.
